The Alpha Quest Youth Mentoring Program Membership Application Process:
Applications to become an Alpha Quest mentee are accepted year round and can be found and completed by clicking the “Become an Alpha Quester” link found at the top of this pagen. Once the application has been submitted, the review process begins.
The application review process occurs yearly between September 1 and July 31. Once the applications are reviewed, accepted applicants will be contacted via email and invited along with their families to participate in the Alpha Quest orientation, which occurs in the month September. At the orientation, applicants and their families will be provided an overview of the program and a schedule of upcoming events.
Who Is Eligible To Be An Quester:
Applicants must meet the following criterion to be considered for the Alpha Quest program:
- Be Male
- In grades 6-9
- Be familiar with and interested in the goals and objectives of the Alpha Quest program
- Willing to work hard to achieve the desired outcome – Success
- Have obtained the permission of a parent or guardian to participate
Expectations:
Alpha Questers will meet twice each month between October and July each year. These meetings are dedicated to education and leadership enhancement while also focusing on cultural enrichment activities. In order for a Quester to receive the maximum benefits of the program, he must be present and willing to participate. We do not expect 100% attendance, but active and engaged Questers and families are preferred.
Mentoring activities are designed to be fun and afford Questers and mentors the opportunity to engage one another one on one. During this relaxed atmosphere, Questers are required to wear the Alpha Quest, which will be provided. This will be enforced without deviation during field trips, as we want every Quester to be readily identifiable.
As has been stated, improving academic achievement is one of the primary tenets of the Alpha Quest program; therefore, Quester are required to provide monthly grade updates every semester. This affords the Quester, parent(s)/guardian(s), and mentors the opportunity to celebrate areas of success, and address areas requiring improvement.
