Started in 1980, Project Alpha is a national program that utilizes innovative and non-traditional lectures and workshops focusing on sexual responsibility of young males within the African-American community. This collaborative project is designed to provide education, motivation, and skill-building on issues of responsibility, relationships, teen pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases for young males ages 12-18 years. Project Alpha consists of a series of workshops and informational sessions conducted by the members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and other community volunteers. The facilitators will provide the young adults with current and accurate information about teen pregnancy prevention and stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS and other STD’s. The goals of Project Alpha are:

● To share knowledge to combat ignorance, fear, and other teen misconceptions with factual information.
● To provide motivation and encourage responsible choices in sexual behavior.
● To provide skills that help to create a sense of empowerment and self-esteem.
